These extra-warm knee-length merino underpants for women are a double-sided first layer and can be turned to a smooth or a grooved side depending on the temperature and activity level. With a fabric thickness of 400g/m², the Aclima StreamWool Shorts are clearly in the top league of warm functional underpants. As a thick first layer, they create a comfortable warmth base in the cold-sensitive areas and are therefore not only suitable for winter sports in sub-zero temperatures, but are also the first choice for professional use outdoors, as they achieve excellent heat retention even when inactive.
The grooved side worn inwards creates additional warming air cushions and is recommended in this orientation to achieve maximum heat efficiency. During greater physical exertion, however, the grooved side is turned outwards, creating a larger surface area and thus a suction effect for sweat to the outside (capillary effect). A seamless gusset is used in the crotch to avoid chafing. The soft merino waistband is elastic but still fits snugly.
