Bergans was founded in 1908 by the Norwegian Ole F. Bergan. It all began with the patent registration for one of the first backpack carrying frames.
In the following years, Bergans equipped important expeditions, such as the South Pole expedition of Roald Amundsen (1911) or the first ascent of Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay (1953).
Today, Bergans is an internationally respected supplier with a wide range of products for outdoor and winter sports, which also includes functional clothing made of or with wool.
